| I have terrible luck in flying. I had planned a trip to spend Easter with Daisy's family in Kansas. My original trip took me from Newark to O'Hare to Wichita going there on Friday and from Wichita to St. Louis to Newark on the way back on Monday. The biggest mistake I made was flying through Chicago in what can still be considered a time for winter weather. I had checked in online and went to bed early in order to catch an early train to Newark. For some reason I received a call from American Airlines at around 11:30 PM. I didn't answer, but I couldn't go back to sleep without knowing what is going on. I went online to see what was happening and found out that my flight from O'Hare to Wichita was cancelled. I called back and found out that I was already rebooked on a flight from Newark to Dallas to Wichita. I then checked those flights and saw that I would probably be on standby on both flights. I was tired and decided I would catch the first train to Newark to try and get it straightened out. I tried to go back to bed but discovered I couldn't go back to sleep. I catch the train without any trouble. When I got to the airport I went and saw what they could do. They put me back on to the original flight to O'Hare and then a later flight to Wichita. I went through security. Just as they are about to board, they announce Chicago is getting a winter storm and the flight would be delayed for at least an hour and a half. I finally get to Chicago, but I can't see the status of my flight. I call Daisy and tell her to go ahead and head down to Wichita to pick me up. When my flight comes up on the screen I see that my flight was cancelled. I go and make sure that I'm on standby for the only flight to Wichita that hasn't been cancelled. My name comes on the list and I'm third. I tell Daisy to go ahead and turn back not thinking that I would get on. I talk to the agent and see if they could at least get me confirmed on a flight. The next flight wouldn't be until Sunday. They suggested that I talk to a travel agent because they couldn't find any other flights. I call and suggest another airport. They get me on a flight to Kansas City. I go to the agent to see if they could print out my ticket and they said I would have to go back through security. About this time the airport declares a weather emergency and nothing comes in or out. I get my ticket and call Daisy to tell her to head to Kansas City. I go back to find that my flight was delayed an hour. I finally get to leave to Chicago after about 5 inches of snow have fallen. I get to Kansas City and have to wait a little bit for Daisy and her family to get there. By the time we are all together it was late and there was no point in trying to drive back. We looked for a place in Kansas City, but we couldn't find anywhere. We end up staying the night in Lawrence, KS. The next morning we left for Osborne. The rest of the weekend turned out really nice. We were able pick out the tuxes and me the pastor. I was also able to meet her mom's family. Riding ATV's in Kansas is a lot of fun. Daisy and I go to get our marriage license on Monday, and she notices that her tire is a little flat. We go to get it taken care of and discover that there was a nail in it. We get to Wichita and my flight was actually on time. I get to St. Louis without any trouble. I get to my gate and discover that I have to check my bag. The previous flight had a plane the same size and I didn't have to check my bag. I get to Newark at around 11 PM and I just miss the train. I wait about an hour and catch the next one. By the time I get back it is about 1:30 AM. I am tired of flying. | | |
| The day has finally come. I have found the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. Daisy and I got engaged around 10 PM on November 23. We both knew it was coming (since I took Daisy to pick some rings that she liked). I had went out and bought the ring about two weeks before I was going to propose. I was originally thinking I would do it when she came out in December, but I couldn't wait that long. I put it in my carry-on and took it with me to Amarillo, TX. From there Daisy and I drove to Pampa, TX to pick up her Grandma and then drove to her brother's house in Dodge City, KS. After we got there I met all her family at once. We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner, and I got to know her family. The next day most of the family got up to go shopping very early in the morning. I decided it was the perfect time to ask her dad for permission to marry her. I got the ok, but I didn't have the chance to do anything until that night. Daisy and I were alone playing a game. When I could no longer hold it in I got down beside her. We both knew what was happening. I did the best I could to get on my somewhat good knee and told her how special she was to me. She said yes and we had our first kiss. I know it wasn't very fancy, but both of us were so happy to finally be engaged. We have already talked about a June wedding down in Texas, but I guess that information will come a little bit later. | | |
| I decided to post even though my heart is at a low point. Daisy came this weekend to be with me. I can't think of anything nicer than being with her, but it always hurts when either of us have to leave. I am trying to fix that right now. I have applied to a few places in Dallas and also in Amarillo. I have also had some people in the Army looking for places where I can transfer. I can't wait to be down there. My prayer request is that God will show me where He wants me to go according to His time. I am planning on flying to Texas over Thanksgiving. From there Daisy and I will drive to Dodge City, KS. The next time I'll be in Ohio is over Christmas. I have been flying so much. I should have a free flight pretty soon. I am happy at church except when I wanted to argue about reformed theology. Time has gone so fast. The past seems like one event and it's hard to think what has happened since the last time I posted. | | |
| I thought I'd share a couple of additions to my life. One of the more important ones is Daisy. She is from Kansas, but she will be moving to Texas. I met her at Colts Neck Baptist Church. We have been dating since May 21. I couldn't be happier with the time that I've spent with her.

The second addition is a tattoo that I've been wanting to get for a few years. I got it back in April or May I think. I'm happy with my decision to get it.

| I noticed that I haven't provided an update in a long time. Quite a few things have changed since I last updated. I have lived in New Jersey for a year now, and I have rented my apartment for another year. I have been looking into the possibility of moving to another army base, possibly in Texas. The reason is simple for me. I have been dating Daisy since May 21. She is so special to me. Right now she is a nanny, but she will be moving to Texas right after Labor Day for another job. I have also made a change to my physical appearance. It takes the form of a tattoo on my right shoulder. It is of a triquetra with Matt 28:19 below it. I have been learning so much lately, but that's for another post. | | |
